It feels like a must to order an authentic coffee bean of coffee from faraway unheard of rainforestland in a well-atmosphere coffee shop. At least that’s how I always thought of and took well into action reading between lines looking for the most unheard of name on the list, to my surprise, this time I opted for tea, yes T-E-A, Jinshuang Oolong to be exact. Hi myself for being a healthy being, the ambiance just made me wanna order tea and bring out my very Asian part, ha. I have to admit I am well-concerned of what I indulge ever than before, and my body doesn’t take things appreciative like it used to, but always have a second room for dessert 😉
We came here after the wedding, followed by a Christian mass and a lunch on Boxing Day. I found this cafe prior we came down(came down as in from Taipei as it’s north of Kaoshiung), with a minute to two passing my phone around asking for nods, no surprise we end up here for our monthly catch up. Monthly catch up is a time where my friends and I find excuses to explore good places around town, it’s a good excuse, isn’t it? It’s a 10 mins drive from where we live, across Kaoshiung Art Museum. I always love exploring cities out of Taipei like Taichung and Kaoshiung where restaurants/cafe shop are spacious, dynamic architect due to enough space not to mention the expenses does not scale high up judging by it’s cover.
Caffaina gives me a library vibe, but a library we can talk loud, eat scrumptious dessert, sink in sofa, and have a TV in the background playing French? Love how the coffee world map touch our wanderlust soul by the smell of variety coffee bean. They have two stores in Kaoshiung and I heard this one is the spacious one. Souffle is the highlight at Caffaina, it comes in different flavor everyday and today’s daily is Mocha Souffle. It comes with red bean sauce and vanilla ice cream top with oreo and coffee roll, handmade after order, fresh warmy hot out of the oven. Tarte au Citron is one of my favourite pâtisserie, indispensable to order one to scale a cafe shop, and if I want to come back again. The Tarte au Citron here balance the sour and sweetest well. I was never a big fan of it before afraid of the sourness, until I had this one at Musée d’Orsay on a gloomy day of my Paris trip which was my favorite ever since with French team member- canelé. Other than these my friend had a Black Forest Cake.
Dessert, coffee, tea here is decent itself and as in price. I guess someone from Taipei just kept on bewilder the fact expenses here is a slight different than Taipei, portion comes bigger with food tastier. They gave me a kettle for my Jinshuang Oolong, which I can’t be excited enough to immerse with above desserts. The Love River, funny how I directly translated it, but it’s really what it’s called in Chinese, is right next to the cafe. A nice stroll along the river after a nice tea or to the museum. A new Starbucks recently just opened across the street(to bad it was still under construction when we were there), being the first Starbucks in Taiwan selling cold brew coffee, don’t hesitate to check out what’s out there as well coffee lover!

Caffaina給人一種圖書館的舒適感，但是是一個可以大聲講話，享受精緻甜點，慵懶的坐在沙發上，及還有播著法語的電視一直在後面播放的咖啡館。 喜歡一進門就看到諾大無比的咖啡地圖，讓喜歡旅遊的行者，透過咖啡撲鼻香環遊世界。 Caffaina在高雄有兩間店，另一間是在左營明誠路二段，據說這一空間比較大。舒芙蕾是這裡的一大特色，每日都會有今日限定款，我們那一天吃到的每日舒芙蕾是抹茶口味的。抹茶舒芙蕾搭配著紅豆泥，香草冰淇淋佐oreo和咖啡蛋捲，熱呼呼的現做上桌。 另外檸檬塔是我最喜歡的甜點之一，到任何地方都要試試看這一家的好不好吃，也評斷一下下一次想不想要再來的理由。 Caffaina的檸檬塔酸度與甜度平衡的剛剛好，滿足嗜酸不嗜甜的口味，酥脆塔皮與清爽內陷完美融合，有達到擄獲我的味蕾，下一次可以再來的印章。以前還沒有加入喜歡檸檬塔的俱樂部之前是因為很怕檸檬的酸會過於酸，但至從在奧塞美術館裡吃了一口檸檬塔後，便加入了我的最愛甜點俱樂部裡跟可麗露做朋友。處此之外朋友還點了黑森林蛋糕也不錯吃。
