I haven’t have a proper satisfied brunch in Taipei these days. Being a brunch person, though Taipei was being written in news as the Portland, Oregon for a place embracing creativity, innovation and a cafe city, yet new cafe brunch are the same- sans/avec avocado, egg benedict, panini, repeat again. Sorry wooloomooloo, though you are on the news and I had tried you twice, you’ve seriously disappointed me with your avocado with only a tiny piece of avocado on top, not how you wrote on your menu. Mind me haven’t been to Portland to really understand what it’s talking about, and bear that news saying we are strawberry generation cause they have no clue how it’s really like living here, too judgmental judging book from a cover, and yes every generation has their representative fruit, isn’t that cool… and yes, the news was being debated widely on Facebook comments.
Okay, get back to the brunch, brunch. I went to Kaoshiung during Christmas to attend my friend’s wedding, we had a day free before heading back to Taipei, my best friend and I went to Kaoshiung the Pier 2 Art Center (駁二 pronounce: boˊ erˋ) to chill under the summer breeze.
We stumble upon this cafe wandering around the red brick warehouses at the pier. I think I came across this cafe while searching where to eat at Kaoshiung, not did I know it joy me while munching food in my mouth, praising over and over again “so good, price so reasonable”. My friend joke about I should move down here for the sake of brunch as I’ve been complaining I can’t find any good brunch in Taipei. I seriously couldn’t find a brunch like this in Taipei and with this price! Brunch in Taipei nowadays start from NT250 (US$8), and that’s a normal simple brunch, a nicer brunch would extend to NT300 above (US$10). But from above menu, I was bewildered a good brunch start from NT200 (US6.5) which such creativity. I was going for the Fisherman’s brunch, sadly all sold out. The Fisherman’s brunch is a highlight here, brought to dish daily fresh fish out of the dock from Kaoshiung harbor. Mentaiko Eggs Benedict with Miso-Hollandaise Sauce was what I had. I was surprised by the flooded miso-Hollandaise sauce, a whole piece Mentaiko, fried crispy beancurd, the fresh out-of-over warm biscuit underneath, and the salad wasn’t just an ordinary salad toss on the plate, but with brussels sprout and turnip! Oh my, how I glee with my dish. My friend had a New Orleans Chicken Omelettes and she was thrilled satisfied like me. We were killing time to wait for HSR(High Speed Railways) in the evening, both hugging design lifestyle magazines LA VIE from the shelves, enjoying zips of black coffee. Ohhh coffee, I can’t believe they gave us a kettle of coffee! I almost fainted, this meal was too good be true. Laid back chilling, reading magazine, satisfying, it’s what a good perfect brunch should look like, isn’t it? I am glad we found this place, at least I know now and then next time I’m in Kaoshiung I have a place to go.

已經久久沒有在台北吃到心滿意足的早午餐了。台北雖然被報導為美國版的波特蘭，擁有極度創新創造力的咖啡城市，但近期如雨後春筍的冒出來的早午餐餐廳的餐點菜色都差不多−有/無 酪梨，水波蛋，帕尼尼麵包，到下一家餐廳再看一次菜單差不多都一樣。 真抱歉噢wooloomooloo，雖然你上了國際版面，我也嘗試了兩次，但你兩次都讓我超失望，早午餐上寫的酪梨，只給細細一片的酪梨與在菜單上寫的那麼美好宛如一場對比。 沒去過波特蘭，無法實際體悟新聞報導所說的氛圍，也無法忍受報導是怎麼寫我們這一世代的人都被稱作草莓族（台灣也很酷 每一世代有其代表性的水果），畢竟那寫法是在沒有實際了解當地環境的情況下那樣寫，極度果斷的判斷，人不可貌相 海不可斗量。而這篇文章在一上線後，的確在Facebook上演了一場轟轟烈烈的激戰。
在棋盤的紅磚倉庫之間，我們走到NOW&THEN，印象中下來高雄前搜尋美食時有看到這一間餐廳，萬萬沒想到它讓我流連忘返，更別說邊吃時一直不停的說 “好好吃，也太便宜了吧！” 我朋友開玩笑說，我應該搬來高雄，畢竟我一直囔著台北沒有這樣的早午餐～ 這也是真的，在台北哪可以找到這麼好吃，價位平實的早午餐阿！ 台北近期的早午餐大概都從NT250起跳，而那是最基本的早午餐，好一點的都超過NT300。從以上拍的菜單可發現，這裡的早午餐從NT200起跳，更別說種類多樣化，餐點都極具創意！本來要點「漁夫豪邁的早午餐」，但供不應求，而轉戰MISO風明太子班尼迪克蛋。漁夫豪邁的早午餐是這裡的招牌因為使用的魚是每天早上從高雄港新鮮補貨的魚。MISO風明太子班尼迪克蛋一上桌也讓我不停地發出驚呼聲，滿溢的miso風荷蘭醬，一整條明太子，酥脆豆皮，撲在剛出爐的金黃比司吉上，而旁邊點綴的沙拉也不是一般很慶菜的沙拉，盡然有球芽甘藍及蕪菁(turnip)。我太興奮的一直對著我的餐盤微笑，而朋友點了紐奧良爵士雞肉起司蛋捲，也和我一樣對於口感豐厚的餐點頻頻讚不絕口！ 另一方面我們也在打發等待回台北的高鐵時間，從書架拿了幾本生活設計雜誌LA VIE，開心的喝著熱呼呼黑咖啡。噢 我們也很不可置信的盡然給我們「一壺」咖啡！ 真的是開心的要昏倒了，因為這一餐太好吃啦！ 早午餐午後就該像這樣慵懶般的悠閒地，翻著雜誌，從精神到味蕾稱心如意。 下一次來高雄知道要去哪兒了，找到我這城市的咖啡館。
